Brooke Hanson's Camping Story
In Episode 4 of Caravan and Camping with the Stars, Olympic swimming champion Brooke Hanson shares how camping has shaped her family's life.
An avid surfer as well as a swimmer, Brooke and her family chase waves along spots like Angourie and Byron Bay, carrying on a tradition that began with her grandparents' caravan trips to her national swimming championships.
She recalls a wild storm in 2017 that had the family holding their tent and camper trailer together through the night, and reflects on camping as a source of steadying calm during the hardest period of her life, after the loss of her son Jack. Brooke and her husband found that stepping off the grid, first as a family of three and later with their children, gave them space to grieve, reconnect and find peace. Today, camping remains central to family life, offering the Hansons a way to disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect with each other under the stars.
