Bali Bombing Survivor's Family Caravan Story
Caravan Industry Association of Australia1 min read
This episode follows a family whose Winnebago journey on the Follow the Sun Relay became a story of resilience. The father, a survivor of the 2002 Bali bombings, was seriously injured in the attack and lives with two prosthetic legs, significant burns and hearing loss.
Two decades on, he and his family took on a 15-day motorhome trip down the New South Wales south coast from Sydney to Canberra, giving the kids a break from technology and time to meet other families in caravan parks along the way. His children speak proudly of watching him take on new experiences during the trip, and the family reflects on showing others that living with disability does not stand in the way of an active life, from barbecues and bike rides to a standout stop at a water park in Kingscliff. It is a candid, moving account of family, adventure and living life to the fullest.
